About Contest
BBB Serving Silicon Valley has created an interactive contest that involves students from participating local schools to deliver a message of Trust. The BBB Student Video Contest gives students real world experience in creating a 30 second video while constructing a social marketing campaign to promote the message.
The BBB works directly with the participating schools and faculty to organize a multi-school competition for their students. The BBB actively presents the contest to participating students and provides judging, guidelines, curriculum and this website to facilitate the contest. Students can partner up in teams, or go it alone, to produce an engaging 30 second video that follows a unique theme.

Students have up to 8-10 weeks to script, shoot, and edit the videos using school resources, and then submit the video to be judged.
Once the video is approved for judging, BBB will make the video public and students must promote and market their video through social and traditional marketing channels. Videos are then given a 4-6 week timeframe to be promoted. BBB works with a national agency Platypus – Media, Advertising, & Design to judge each video on quality, messaging, and production value, while tallying all the votes received online from the students marketing efforts.
BBB works with local media channels, including news stations, to help promote the contest and will announce the winners publicly. Individual prizes, scholarships, and video equipment donations are awarded to the participants and we have had the pleasure of even giving the winning students on-air TV time.

BBB sees trust as a function of two primary factors – integrity and performance. Integrity includes respect, ethics and intent. Performance speaks to a business’s track record of delivering results in accordance with BBB standards and/or addressing customer concerns in a timely, satisfactory manner.
BBB ensures that high standards for trust are set and maintained. We exist so consumers and businesses alike have an unbiased source to guide them on matters of trust. We provide educational information and expert advice that is free of charge and easily accessible.
BBB Accreditation is an honor – and not every business is eligible. Businesses that meet our high standards are invited to join BBB. Businesses deemed to meet Accreditation Standards are presented to the BBB’s Board (or designees) for review and acceptance as a BBB Accredited Business. All BBB accredited businesses have agreed to live up to our Standards for Trust, a comprehensive set of best practices for how businesses should treat the public in a fair and honest manner. To review our Standards for Trust, click here.
